According to the HSE, in 2019/20 there were an estimated 828,000 workers affected by work-related stress, depression or anxiety. This represents 2,440 per 100,000 workers and results in an estimated 17.9 million working days lost.
It is a fact that 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem at any one time, including in the workplace. From a Management perspective, knowing how to recognise the signs and understanding how to respond to an employee who is experiencing difficulties with their mental health is an essential step towards that individual getting the help and support they need.
Organisations are required by law to promote and protect the mental well-being of their workforce. This training course is suitable for managers who need an understanding of what mental health is and need help in recognising and identifying the numerous ways in which it can present itself in the workplace. The course provides an overview of the common mental health problems people may experience, the symptoms and effects of them and what you should do to support any employees who are struggling. The course will provide helpful insights into the many ways you can create a positive mental health culture in your workplace and make some simple changes to ensure you are able to give your employees the support they require.

What is mental health? Statistics, common causes and symptoms, stigma, what you can do to help, mental health law at work and risk assessment.
Types of Mental Health Problem
An overview of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, stress, PTSD, phobias, schizophrenia, eating disorders, self-harm, loneliness and panic attacks.
Managing a Mental Health Problem
Tips to improve wellbeing, setting goals, peer support, sleep, diet, exercise, drugs and alcohol, mindfulness, taking a break, medication and recovery.
Supporting Mental Health in the Workplace
Why mental health is not discussed at work, recognising a problem, talking about mental health, supporting a colleague, promoting a healthy workplace and tips for managers.
Workplace Adjustments
Why are adjustments needed and what is meant by an adjustment? Fit notes, adjustments to the workplace, helping an employee to return to work and tips for managers.

Who Should Attend This Mental Health For Managers Course?
This course is suitable for anyone who is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of employees within an organisation of any size, ie Managers, Supervisors, Team Leaders, HR Professionals
Blended Learning
We deliver the 1 day Mental Health for Managers Course as a “blended learning” programme which means that after the classroom course has been delivered, each delegate will be given access to an e-Learning Module which can be studied in their own time. The module takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and delegates will have access to the materials for 12 months. Once the module has been successfully completed, the course becomes CPD accredited and a CPD certificate will be available to download and print to demonstrate their commitment to Continuous Professional Development. The Module carries 3 CPD points.

They have a happy family life and good social relationships. Organisations are required by law to promote and protect the mental well-being of their workforce.
A comprehensive Mental Health Policy, along with easy-to-understand operating procedures, will incorporate mental health issues into established organisational thinking. It will make sure everyone knows how the organisation views and deals with workplace mental health. This course covers the steps that organisations should consider when developing and implementing a comprehensive workplace Mental Health Policy.

The e-learning course takes approximately 90 mins to complete. You have access to the course materials for 12 months. This can be useful to refer back to as a refresher.
The course is CPD accredited and carries 3 CPD Points
The course format is a presenter led video, followed by a series of multiple choice questions. You have 3 attempts to successfully answer each question correctly. Once all modules have been passed, you will be issued with a digital CPD accredited certificate to download and print for your records.
